Vincent E
Martinez
Apr 23, 1962 — Aug 27, 2018
Vincent E. Martinez went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 27, 2018 at the age of 56. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on April 23, 1962 to Andres and Olga Martinez.
Vince was a devoted family man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend...he was a GENTLEMAN.
His family was the joy of his life. When his sons were younger, he coached their teams and never missed any of their games, always being a positive EXAMPLE.
His cheerful and joyful personality attracted many people of all walks of life. Many of those individuals became life-long friends. He loved and cared for all of his friends like they were his family…he was DEDICATED.
He retired from HEB after 30 years of service. He volunteered at Holy Name Catholic Church C.Y.O. coaching many boys' teams. He even dedicated his time at St. Gerard High School and was recognized for his many hours of service. Over the years, many of his former players, now grown, often referred to him as coach and he greeted them not with a handshake, but with a big warm hug.
His character traits include but are not limited to; putting others first, kindness, generosity, integrity, and his wonderful ability to make people laugh.
All of his family and friends will always remember him for the way he touched their heart and made them feel special. He was a beautiful expression of God's creation. His legacy will live in our hearts forever.
Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John A. Martinez and Marcus Martinez. Survivors include his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 32 years, Debbie Martinez; sons, Vincent Martinez II and wife Cassandra, Derek Martinez and wife Eren; grand-daughters, Danica Martinez and Arabella Martinez; brothers, Oscar Martinez and wife Sharon, Hector Martinez, Art Martinez and wife Grace; sister Olga Nydia Martinez; nine nieces and twelve nephews and many great nieces and nephews; three God-daughters and two God-sons.
