Steven Gordon
Dean
Sep 14, 1957 — Oct 20, 2024
San Antonio
Surrounded by his loving family, Steven Gordon Dean flew to the loving arms of his Savior on October 20, 2024, at the age of 67 after a valiant seven-year battle with cancer. He was born September 14, 1957, in San Antonio, Texas to William Edwin Dean and Margaret Smithson Dean. He met the love of his life, Carola Wolff, in 1994 and they married, on October 18, 1997. They had twenty-seven wonderful years together and she devoted herself totally to his care in the years following his cancer diagnosis to his last day, two days following their 27th Anniversary.
In his early years, he was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and pursued his love of music and singing in the Mainstream Youth Choir. He graduated from MacArthur High School in 1977. He had varied interests following high school, including studying culinary arts at St Phillip's College but later settled on his passion for cars. He began his studies at Mansfield Tech and focused his career on specializing in Body Shop Collision Repair. He was most proud of his 15 years with Alamo Toyota Collision Center. There, he established many lifelong friendships with coworkers and customers. He held multiple certifications including University of Toyota Certification: Certified Collison Estimator, I-CAR Estimator Platinum, I-CAR Certificate of Qualification Platinum Individual, and AMI Auto Management institute Estimator. In his spare time as a young man, he followed his passion for country music as a DJ at dance clubs Just Country on Walzem Road and later Country Down Under in the 1990s. One of his "things" was the importance of taking care of the yard he learned from his dad, Bill, and passed on to his son, Will. His love of tasty food was apparent every time he found out his daughter Lauren was going by Fidelos—he wanted her to bring him their tacos Pastores—his favorite.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carola, his sister, Victoria and her husband, Dale Wood, his sons, Steven G. Dean II, and Will Dean, and daughter Lauren Dean, and three grandchildren. The family wants to thank his caregivers Sharawn, Tina, Amber and the ICU nurses and doctors at NE Methodist Hospital for their loving care of our husband, father, and brother.
