Patrick Michael
"Mike" Farrell
Oct 10, 1952 — Dec 19, 2023
Patrick Michael "Mike" Farrell went home to be with Jesus on December 19, 2023, at age 71. Mike is survived by a loving immediate family: beloved wife of 50 years Rita Barsch Farrell, daughter Tammie Jo Farrell, grandson Matthew Patrick Farrell, sisters Betty Savoie and Patsy Iturralde, sister by choice Janie Reese, brother Vic Speck (Pattie), brother-in-law Robert Barsch and (Barbara Ann), nephews: John Hardemon III, Bander Al-Shehrg, Gerald Hodges Jr., Terrence Hodges, Natana Hodges, Davon Tucker, and Robbie Barch and niece Debbie Russo (his special birthday gift!), and husband Ben. He was preceded in death by daughter Lori Ann Farrell, parents Leroy and Wilma Farrel, and mother-in-law Anna Barsch.
Mike's family extended far beyond this immediate circle. He had a tremendous heart for helping others and "adopted" several struggling young people giving them a home and family. His circle of close friends was enormous, because of his willingness to help others and stand by friends through hard times.
Mike proudly served his country, joining the Army after high school and serving from 1971- 1980, in the Military. He was an advocate for Veterans rights all of his life. After leaving the Army, he worked as a home inspector with Guy Chipman and then an automotive inspector with three different auctions retiring from Sparkling City Auction. He was especially proud of working with GSA vehicles.
Upon retiring, Mike embarked on a journey of service to the Lord. He and Rita joined Brookhill Baptist Church, and there Mike became a Deacon. He organized and worked tirelessly with the church food bank program, he served on the Homeward Bound Team helping with the homeless from 2018- 2021, and he even worked as a church teacher teaching Pre-K. His church family is extensive and too numerous to name, but brotherhood and love at Brookhill Baptist were the joy of his life for many years, and Pastor Aaron Treanor was dear friend and confidante who Mike credited for the church's success. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Heritage Oaks from 5:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Brookhill Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with interment at San Jose Burial Park.
