Micaela "Mickey" Alvarado Cardenas,beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother,grandmother, & great grandmotherpassed away peacefully in her home. She was born in Edinburg, Texas to Marin & Micaela Alvarado. On June 2,1951, Micaela married Jose R.Cardenas.Their family, now including two daughters, moved to San Antonio in 1954 where 5 more children were born. She is preceded in death by her husband Jose, parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Mrs. Cardenas is survived by her brother, Marin Alvarado and her 7 children Marina Campos, Gloria Mosel, Adela Popp, Jose R. Cardenas Jr.,Lydia Howington, Diana Ahmed and Richard Cardenas; 12 grandchildren Michael, Tanya, Brian, Victoria, Andria, Patricia, Taylor, Mason, Lesley, Kathy, David and Lisa; 23 great-grandchildren,as well as numerous nieces & nephews. Mrs. Cardenas had a 30 year career in Procurement at Kelly AFB. She was also an avid artist in San Antonio and Helotes. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 5:00p.m.-9:00p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. A procession will depart on Friday at 8:30a.m. for a9:30a.m. graveside service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
