In Loving Memory of Patsy
Mary Patricia Galvan was born on July 13, 1964 in San Antonio TX, to Alfonso Garza and Elena Garza.
She was survived by her husband Victor Galvan, daughter Maria Elena Cavazos, son in law Christopher Cavazos; grandchildren Zirina Galvan and wife Rachel Campos, Ariyana Galvan, Patricia Galvan, Valencia Cavazos and Maximus Cavazos; and great grandson Amias Galvan, as well as 3 sisters, 2 brothers and numerous other relatives.
She was proceeded by her parents, Alfonso and Elena A. Garza and her son Victor Daniel Galvan.
To many, she was known as Patsy. She was a beautiful soul with a strong moral compass, guided by her unwavering faith in God. Those she allowed into her inner circle were loved with all her heart. She stood beside the people she cared for through life's greatest joys and most difficult challenges.
Life was not without hardships for Patsy, but that never took away her loving, warm, and caring spirit. She remained compassionate and always found reasons to laugh and smile even in the face of unimaginable adversities. She possessed a unique ability to recognize beauty in the world around her, and her presence brought warmth and light to the lives of those she encountered.
Patsy embraced the responsibilities of family at a young age; becoming a mother at 16 and a wife at 17, sacrificing so much of herself to be a devoted wife and mother. She exemplified the truest form of selfless love— a pure love, unconditional, enduring, and unwavering. Her family was at the heart of her life, and the love she poured into them will remain one of her greatest legacies.
Patsy was a woman of remarkable strength with a tender, fragile side. She never compromised who she was or what she believed in. She stood firmly in her conviction and embraced who she was, unapologetically and wholeheartedly. Those closest to her understood and appreciated the many facets of her personality, recognizing the depth, complexity, and authenticity that made her truly one of a kind.
She was intelligent, inquisitive, and passionate about learning. She educated herself on countless topics and delighted in sharing her knowledge with others. She was a dreamer whose hopes centered on helping others, bringing people together and making life more beautiful.
She had a beautiful singing voice, loved to dance and craft, and, although she wouldn't admit it, she loved to shop. She appreciated color, creativity, and beautiful things. She was well known for her passion and talent in baking and decorating cakes that she shared with her loved ones.
Some of our most treasured moments were spent crafting and baking alongside her and will be cherished for generations.
Patsy was a fighter in every sense of the word. In her final years, she fought cancer and faced other health challenges with remarkable strength. Through the good days and the bad, she continued to be there for others as much as she could. She never lost her spark, her sense of humor, or the smile that could light up an entire room. Her strong will and unmistakable stubborn streak were enduring parts of her character, reflecting a spirit that refused to be defined by adversity. Those who loved her knew those qualities were every bit a part of what made her Patsy.
Above all, Patsy lived her life through faith. She praised the Lord without hesitation and remained steadfast in her beliefs, even during the darkest chapters of her journey. Her faith was a source of strength, hope, and perseverance. She did not simply speak of trusting God; she demonstrated that trust through the way she lived, loved, endured, and continued to believe.
The world will be a little dimmer without Patsy's warmth, laughter, smile, and passion for life. Her absence has left us with an immeasurable void in our hearts, in the midst of our grief, there is comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her son and the loved ones who went before her.
She once said that she was simply going through the jungle to reach the Promised Land. Even when her health prevented her from doing so many of the things she loved, she continued to speak of the day she would dance on streets of gold and rejoice in a body made new again. That hope carried her through her struggles, and now we can find comfort in believing that the day she dreamed of has finally come.
Patsy leaves behind so much more than memories. She leaves her wisdom, her guidance, her laughter, her faith, and the example of a life lived with a love that knew no limits. The greatest part of her legacy is that the love she gave does not end here. It will be carried forward through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, passed from one generation to the next with the same selflessness, warmth, and unwavering devotion with which she lived her life.
And somewhere beyond this life, we can imagine Patsy once again smiling, singing, and dancing on those streets of gold.
Until we meet again, Patsy, your love will forever live in us.
