Mariela R. Marquez, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 22, 2026 at the age of 79 years.  She was born in Tabogo, Panama on January 31, 1947, to Alonzo and Berta Lopez Rivera.  Mariela loved gardening and tending to her plants.  She was President of the Gilbert Elementary P.T.A. for many years.   Mariela was preceded in death by her husband, Juan T. Marquez; her parents, Alonzo and Berta Rivera and sister, Lidia Rivera.  She is survived by her children, Johnny Marquez, Eli R. Marquez, Clint R. Marquez, Mariela R. Marquez-Singh, Fernando R. Marquez and Mark R. Marquez; grandchildren, E.J., Brittany, Weston, Morgan, Deanna, Mia, Clint, Kensing, SoHanna, Abigail and Miles; great grandchildren, Eli, Noah, Aiden, Matthew, Martin, Carter, Tommie and Liliana; sister, Zorida
Visitation will be held at Heritage Oaks Mortuary on Thursday, July 2nd from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service to be held at 5:00 p.m.  Mariela will be laid to rest with her husband at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, at a later time and date.
