Obituary

James William Thompson entered eternal rest on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at the age of 66, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with liver cancer.  Born in Dayton, Ohio on April 28, 1955, he grew up in San Antonio, TX and attended Highlands High School.  He was the son of William and Edith Thompson who both predeceased him.

James enjoyed and excelled at leather-working, carpentry and was a certified cabinet maker.  He obtained two associates degrees and had an enthusiasm for learning.  Even though James did not have much, he served the Lord and contributed his time to the less fortunate through various charities in Austin. James wanted people to know that he had spent many years away from his family due to wrong choices and felt he had learned this lesson too late in life.  He hoped that people who knew him or heard his story would be motivated to right the wrongs in their own lives because, in the end, you never know how much time you have left.

James was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Rakowitz (Herman) and grandmother, Mary Queen Smuzok. He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Janson Baggett, nephews, David Janson (Donna) and Danny Janson (Cathy); nieces, Angela Kovarovic (James), Charlene Doyle (Matthew), Kimberly Rakowitz Briggs, numerous great-nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.  He will be deeply missed by all of those that loved him.
