James McGhee "Jim" Vasbinder went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the age of 72 years. He was a member of the Asbestos Local Union #87. Jim loved dancing, playing the fiddle, fishing, gardening, but most of all spending time with his two grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling and was a Texas history enthusiast and the family historian. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Pat in 2010; son, Jimmy Wayne Vasbinder; parents, Jack and Irene Vasbinder; and brother, Walter Murray Vasbinder. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Louise Yates and boyfriend, Marty Oebel; grandchildren, Kimberly Robinson and husband Brett, and Wesley Yates and wife Lanisa; Special Friend, Rosie Dear; soon to arrive great granddaughter, Emma Jane Robinson; brothers, Larry Vasbinder and wife Algie, Earl Vasbinder, John Vasbinder and wife Jamina, and William Vasbinder and wife Cindy; sisters, Carolyn "Cissy" Haley and husband, Dennis, Fayrene Smith and husband Charles Ed "Smitty", and Wanda Kosub and husband Steve; sister-in-laws, Rosie Vasbinder, Nancy Moehring and husband Ray; brother-in-law, Jack Ruston and wife Elaine; also numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held at Heritage Oaks Mortuary on Thursday, June 19th from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, June 20th. Interment will follow in Cover Cemetery.
