Obituary

At the age of 91, James Martin Dugie went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 21 st , 2022. He was born July 13 th , 1930, in Bisbee, Arizona to parents- Cleofas Dugie of Cestohowa and Virginia (Virgie) Haiduk of Panna Maria. The second child of seven.

James (Jim)  Dugie attended school in Arizona till 8 th grade, then his family moved to Falls City, Texas and then again moved to Poteet, Texas raising strawberries on the family farm.

In 1948 James volunteered for the U.S. Army, and at the request of his father was released on a hardship to work on the family farm. He later worked as a truck driver delivering oranges, cheese, cattle, and more to many states from California to New York.

During James' life he married and divorced Lily, the mother of his only son (Jimbo). James raised Jimbo from age 3 till in 1993 when he buried him at the age of 23 after a car accident.

After working as a truck driver for many years, James began working at Ashley Steel and Salvage in 1955, where he retired in 2018, completing 60 years of work.

James' spare time was spent growing watermelons, peanuts, and other vegetables. He loved to hunt, and fish for hardhead catfish, read western books and watch old western movies.

Recently, it was said that James played the accordion and guitar in his younger years.

To keep himself healthy, James was a big believer in vitamins and herbs, and of course cold beer to keep his spirits happy. It seemed he knew so many people and had an abundance of friends and he never met a stranger.

James enjoyed the simple things in life. Raising sheep, watching his garden grow, and he adored his dogs as they entertained him in his last years. Every year in July, James would make phone calls to invite all his friends and family to his Big Birthday Party.

Today, as we celebrate the life of James Dugie, we can visualize James and Jimbo together again.

James was proceeded in death by his son, James Martin Dugie Jr. (Jimbo), his brother Clyde Dugie (wife Debbie) of Bandera, Tx- brother Cleo Dugi (wife Bonnie) of Pima Arizona and brother George of San Antonio, Tx. He leaves behind a sister Rose Zwetzig (husband Frank) and sister Bette Dugie of Keystone, South Dakota, and a brother Mike Dugi and (wife Mary Ann) of Lakehills, Tx. James also leaves many nephews, nieces, and an unending list of friends.
