Jaleel Sha'mar Griffin was born on August 3, 1999 to his parents Cedric and Linda Griffin. Jaleel departed this life on August 2, 2017. Jaleel was born in Wauwatosa, WI but grew up in Chicago, IL. Jaleel moved to San Antonio, TX two years ago and loved everything about his new home. Jaleel loved the outdoors and his family often referred to him as "Nature boy" in reference to his love of nature and free spirit. Jaleel was a senior at William J. Brennan High School, set to graduate in the Spring of 2018 with his peers. Jaleel had always shown a strong tenacity to explore and discover. Jaleel was always a giving person who valued his family and friends above all things.
Jaleel is survived by parents Cedric Griffin and Linda Griffin, his sisters - Kela Nabors and Tatiana Pennington, and four brothers - Cedric Griffin Jr., Juwan Griffin, Jihad Griffin, and Jasim Griffin. Jaleel is also survived by his girlfriend, Deja Brewer who he cared for deeply. Jaleel leaves a grandmother - Loretta Pennington, grandfather - Roger Griffin, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
