Francis W.
Cox
Mar 4, 1962 — Dec 5, 2019
COX, Francis Wayne, passed away peacefully among family and friends, December 5th, 2019.
Francis was born in Evreux, France to the late Clifford and Gisele Cox. He is survived by his sister and brother in law (Francine and Chris Norrod), his nephews (Ryley Lunsford and wife, Genny) and (Wesley Norrod and wife, Jamie), niece and husband (Jessica and Jesse Sample), and four grand-nephews.
He co-parented his dog (Apache) with his dear friend (Amanda Hale), and shared his tuxedo cat (Frosting) with his neighborhood in Dallas, Texas. Growing up in a military family, he lived among many people and cultures. He lived in France, England, New York, New Mexico, Missouri, and several cities in Texas. He was raised in an English and French speaking family and later added Spanish to his language capabilities melding into the southwest culture. He graduated Sandia High School, class of '80, Albuquerque, NM. Following his graduation the family moved to Richland, Missouri from where Francis enlisted in the military. After his honorable service: 1981 – 1983: US Army Combat Medic, and X-Ray Specialist. 1983 - 1986: US Air Force Radiographer, he continued his career in radiology, adding Computerized Tomography, Nuclear Medicine, and Diagnostic Ultrasound to his repertoire. He was a believer in continuous learning; if knowledge is power, it was one of Frank's super-powers. Frank knew a little about everything without being a "know it all". He continued his formal education at UT Austin, obtaining his Bachelor's of Science in Radio, Television and Film with honors in 1997. While in Austin he enjoyed being a Pedicab driver with Capital Pedicab and swimming laps at the UT pool (once with then Governor George W. Bush). Frank later went on to receive his Doctorate in Chiropractic in 2006 from Parker College of Chiropractic where he was bestowed the coveted James W. Parker Chiropractic Philosophy (Founder's) Award. Dr. Cox was lover of animals and nature, loyal friend, unconventional, straight shooter, politically opinionated, and uniquely intelligent. He loved music and was extremely creative. His wit became apparent in childhood as he started his alternate-lyric creations very young--more songs than Weird Al, one might wager. He loved deeply. He loved sketching, South Padre Island, painting, swimming, bicycling, riding his BMW motorcycle, travel, visiting local breweries (to enjoy a cold craft beer), St. Maarten, and people. He loved to volunteer by offering (via pop up office) sideline chiropractic services to Roller Derby skaters with his friend (and Meadows Chiropractic practice co-founder), Dr. Andrea Ellis. Francis preached (by example) the 3 R's--Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. He was well educated, well-travelled and well loved. He lived to serve others in the spirit of their company's dictum: "Body, mind, spirit, adjusted well", and now he is in perfect body, mind, spirit, and is resting well.
