Our dear mother and wife, Elida Russell, age 80 passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. Elida was born December 21, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas to Alfredo and Maria Holguin. Elida had an adventurous spirit and accepted a job for the United States civil service in Frankfurt, Germany where she met and married her husband of 56 years airman Bob Russell October 8th, 1966.

Elida was a loving wife, mother and doting grandmother to her two grandsons. She was extremely talented, and her hands were rarely still. Elida enjoyed crocheting blankets, ornaments, hats and purses for family and friends and won several awards for her quilting.  She was a wonderful cook, loved to try new recipes and was well known for her chocolate chip cookies.  Elida spent a great deal of time outside working in her garden. Lola, her dog, was her constant companion who she loved dearly.

Elida is survived by her husband Bob Russell, her two daughters Rebecca O'Malley and Teresa Miller, her two sons-in-law Ted O'Malley and Christopher Miller, and her two beloved grandsons Theo and Grant O'Malley. She was also a loving sister to David Holguin and Enriqueta Magallan. She was an aunt, cousin and dear friend to many.

Elida was preceded in death by her parents Alfredo and Maria Holguin and her dear brother Fred Holguin and sisters-in-law Lupe, and Gloria Holguin.  She will be missed by many but our memories of her will be treasured forever.
