David Huron Alvarado passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026 in San Antonio, TX at the age of 85 in the presence of family.

He was born on September 21, 1940, to parents Jesus and Manuela Alvarado in San Antonio, TX where he grew up alongside his siblings Walter Alvarado Sr., Antonio Alvarado Sr., Victoria Aguilar, Gloria Carranza, and Marin Campos.

David was a highly skilled mechanic for many years before he began enjoying a well-earned retirement. He lived a long, full life defined by his joyous spirit and dedication to his family. For 38 years, he stood hand-in-hand with his wife, Zulema "Dolly" Castillo, showing everyone who knew them what true partnership looked like. He was a devoted father to his daughter Norma Alvarado and stepchildren Charlie Gonzaba, Yvonne Castillo, Kristine DeLaO, Nancy Eggert, Jason Castillo, and Mark Castillo, exemplifying patience and kindness through many acts of service.

As a grandfather of 11 and great grandfather of 18, he was unmatched. He wasn't just a grandpa; he was a teacher, a companion, a master at BBQ, and a constant source of comfort. We fondly remember the treasured moments when he would pick us up from school in his teal truck or tell us jokes, we would have to ask him to repeat before we'd understand and laugh.

He was handy enough to fix anything, which he often proved by picking up items on the side of the road to bring back home and tinker with, even when it drove Dolly crazy.

David's warmth, generosity, and wisdom were gifts to all of us. His physical presence will be deeply missed, but his lessons will continue to guide his family for generations to come.
