Obituary

Carla Sue "Susie" Beauchamp Ward, peacefully and surrounded by family, went home to be with the Lord on October 5, 2021 after a short illness.

Susie was born on September 11, 1961 in San Antonio, Texas to Jerry and Clara Beauchamp (nee Walker) during hurricane Carla.  Just like her namesake, she blew into this world a force to be reckoned with; forever keeping those around her on their toes in anticipation of just what on earth she might do next.

She was the fourth of five children born to the Beauchamp family, joining Sharon, Teri and Joe, and welcoming Mary Ann soon thereafter.  She loved her family deeply, with all of her mighty heart, and there wasn't anything they couldn't accomplish together – they were the ultimate team.

She had a servant's heart, dedicating her life to Jesus at an early age and was a long-time member of Baptist Temple in San Antonio, Texas.

Susie graduated from East Central High School, where she was voted Most Spirited Girl, in 1980.  After high school she attended San Antonio Community College and eventually took a job at the Bexar County Courthouse where she made many life-long friends.  She eventually became the paralegal for one of those great friends, the late John Quinlan, III.

In a move that surprised absolutely everyone, our unpredictable firecracker joined the United States Air Force in 1987.  Her time in the Air Force took her all over the world where she served her country faithfully and with honor.  She was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Good Conduct Award, the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon and the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon.  While she retired from the service in 1997, she remained a fierce patriot and loyal defender of our nation for the rest of her life.

All of these accomplishments pale in comparison, of course, to her most cherished role: being the mother of Gino and Lucas.  Her boys were the light of her life and she instilled in them all of the attributes that made her so amazing.  They are loving, kind, loyal, smart and funny – just like her.

Susie's heart was complete when she married the love of her life, Tim Ward, in 2007.  Soulmates in every sense of the word, Susie and Tim shared a life together that was full of the kind of true love and happiness that most people only read about.  Whatever souls are made of, Susie's and Tim's were the same.

Susie was preceded in death by her Daddy, Jerry Jay Beauchamp, and her brother, Joe Ross Beauchamp.  She is survived by her loving husband, Tim Ward, her sons, Gino and Lucas Rebello, her mother, Clara Beauchamp, her sisters, Sharon Shaw (Mark), Teri Chance (Jack) and Mary Ann Martinez (Paul), and all of the luckiest nieces and nephews ever.

Susie was sometimes wild, and sometimes crazy, but she was always fun, she was always loved, and she was always Rock and Roll.  And she will be missed.  Always.
