Beverly Irene
Zellers
Sep 3, 1937 — Aug 7, 2025
San Antonio
Beverly Irene Wilson Zellers, age 87, formerly of Arden Park Assisted Living in San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully in her sleep, August 7, 2025.
She was born on September 3, 1937, to James Howard Wilson and Lillian Beverly Preston Wilson. Beverly was the oldest daughter of four and grew up on a farm in Pataskala, Ohio with her younger sisters helping to care for them. She also worked in the garden and cared for their cows, chickens and horses; life was not easy. Beverly graduated from Pataskala High in 1955 and joined the Army to be a WAC in March of 1957. She met and married Robert Leroy Zellers at the base in El Paso, Texas. When Robert was transferred, she was honorably discharged in November of 1958 in order to join him on his journey. Beverly was an Eastern Star, belonging to Wahneta Chapter #235 where she served as Worthy Matron in 1981.
In March of 1973, she divorced and moved back to Pataskala, Ohio as a single mother raising two young children the best she could. She cleaned houses and apartments while she went to school to become an LVN nurse. Once she graduated, she went to work for Grant Hospital. She retired from Grant Hospital in 2000 and moved to Castroville, Texas to be closer to her daughter and get to know her only two grandchildren. She worked as a nurse part time for a doctor's office for the first few years she was there. Beverly was very creative, her skills are self-taught in regard to sewing, crocheting and knitting. She loved to share her craft with people, like crocheting and knitting scarves, wash cloths, towel tops, afghans and baby things. She loved to make people laugh in her retirement and put puzzles together with her sisters and friends.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents James Howard Wilson and Lillian Beverly Preston Wilson; Sister Judy Wilson Holden; Former spouse Robert Leroy Zellers; along with her aunts and uncles from both sides.
Beverly is survived by her children Howard Joseph Zellers of Trimble, MO and Theresa Zellers Littlefield of San Antonio, TX; sisters Carolyn Wilson Hicks of Pataskala, OH and Jacky Wilson Remington of Vicksburg, MI; grandchildren Jessica Lyn Littlefield of Hondo, TX and Tommy James Littlefield (Gilllian Dreager) of Valencia, Spain.
